Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 9 a.m. at her late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Tuesday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. He was born Feb. 4, 1935, to the late Alvin and Mary (Sauder) Sauder near Terre Hill, sharing a happy childhood on a farm with 8 siblings: Martin G., married to Jean (Slaymaker) Sauder-Wind Gap, PA; Ruth, wife of Wilmer I. Hollinger-Goshen IN; Esther, wife of Dr. Roy Wert-Lebanon; John, married to Phyllis (Miller)-Lanc., PA; Marian Bauman-Harrisonburg, VA; Warren, married to Sally (Stoltzfus)-N. Holland, PA; Wilmer, married to Velma (Groff)-Harrisburg, PA; Susan Sauder, deceased.
In his youth, he was a song leader, youth leader, and at 16 yrs. helped start Bender's Men. Church near Nazareth, PA. He was ordained minister of Cambridge Men. Church (Chester Co.), June '54 by Bishop Paul, and married Rhoda (Clymer) Mar. 1, 1955, with whom he shared 61 precious years. Both were deeply dedicated to Christ's service and were commissioned in late 1960 to overseas service by Eastern Men. Missions, with whom they served at various places for 30 yrs.
God blessed them with six wonderful children, twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: Vernon-deceased 2/61; Ronda L. Sauder, married to Randy Weber-Harrisonburg, VA; James Anthony (Tony) Sauder married to Kathleen (Oberholtzer)-Philadelphia, PA; Philip Sauder, married to Aylin (Jimenez)-Miami, FL; David Sauder, married to Ruth Kuhn-Elizabethtown, PA; Samuel Sauder, married to Janell (Nolt)- Harrisonburg, VA. Grandchildren: Rachael (Weber) Tayonvskaya, Ryan Weber-Rodriguez, Reid Weber, Joshua Sauder, Daniel Sauder, Stephanie Sauder, Luke Sauder, McKenzie Sauder, Madison Sauder, Montana Sauder, Kayla Sauder, Karissa Sauder; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Both worked tirelessly side by side in evangelism, teaching, and testifying of the Good News of salvation during 19 years in Gualaco, Tocoa, La Ceiba, HN and other CA and Caribbean countries. James was introduced to TEE (Theological Education by Extension) at a seminar in Guatemala in the late 60's and it became his passion to "teach faithful men" who would be able to teach others. He worked to unite all CA Anabaptist leaders to train leaders for the growing churches and zealously laid the groundwork for SEMILLA.
James traveled extensively to the CA and Caribbean countries in leadership training from their home in Miami (1980-84), after which they served five years in the Dominican Republic. During furloughs, he earned an MA in Education at NYU, in Missions from Fuller Theological Seminary, and an M Div from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:30 preceded by a viewing at 9:30 at Weaverland Mennonite Church, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd. East Earl, PA 17519. Following burial in the adjoining cemetery, friends and family are invited to share lunch and memories together. The family will also receive friends (viewing) on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Martindale Mennonite Church 171 Hurst Rd., Ephrata, PA from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

She was born in Clay Township to Katie (Horning) Hoover of Ephrata and the late Aaron W. Hoover. She was the wife of Kenneth M. Sauder of Ephrata.
Mabel was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. She was a homemaker and part owner, with her husband, of Ken's Educational Joys.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by 5 brothers, Melvin H., husband of Martha (Rieff) Hoover of Leola, John H., husband of Ruth Ann (Garman) Hoover of Marietta, Marvin H., husband of Anna Mary (Brubaker) Hoover of Womelsdorf, Moses H., husband of Arlene (Nolt) Hoover of Myerstown, Aaron H., husband of Edna (Oberholtzer) Hoover of Bethel; 42 nieces and nephews; 160 great nieces and nephews; an extended family, Mr. & Mrs. Weaver Fox, Randall, husband of Marilyn (Brubaker) Fox, Julie (Fox), wife of Nevin Brubaker, Lanita (Fox), wife of Lydell Zimmerman, Jessica (Fox), wife of Terrill Zimmerman, Kristina (Fox), wife of Matthew Hursh.

SHIPSHEWANA - Hannah Faith Schlabach passed away shortly after birth Thursday, July 14, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, David P. and Karen Elizabeth (Troyer) Schlabach; a brother, Noah; grandparents Richard and Bonnie Troyer of Goshen and Paul and Martha Schlabach of Holmesville, Ohio; great-grandparents Mary Troyer of Goshen, John and Lavina Maxwell of Prairie, Miss., and John Bontrager of Middlebury.
A graveside service was Saturday, July 16 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Goshen.

NAPPANEE - Freeman E. Schmucker, 90, of Nappanee, died at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Tennova Health Care Hospital, Jamestown, Tenn.
He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Bremen, to Emmon and Salina (Hochstetler) Schmucker. On Aug. 28, 1953, he married Betty Magner. She died April 21, 2008.
Surviving are his children, Mike (Cathy) Schmucker of Nappanee, Terry (Kim) Schmucker of Florida, Dennis (Penny) Schmucker of Elkhart, Cindy (Jerry) Yoder of Etna Green, Patti (Tim) Semen of Wawaka, Randy Schmucker of Warsaw; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother Levi (Millie) Schmucker of Goshen; and sisters Edna Mae Stoltzfus of Pennsylvania, Melinda (Leroy) Hochstetler of Bremen and Mahala (John) Troyer of Nappanee.

GOSHEN - Lloyd Schmucker, 80, of Goshen, died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Maples at Waterford Crossing, Goshen.
He was born March 24, 1936, in Elkhart County, to Levi and Susie (Hershberger) Schmucker.
Surviving are a sister, Ida Mae Schmucker of Goshen and three brothers, Ivan (Laura) Schmucker of Dalton, Wis., Vernon (Edna) Schmucker of Goshen and Rudy (Mary) Schmucker of Winchester, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leroy, Freeman and Lee Schmucker.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Visitation will be all day Saturday, June 25, at the family’s residence, 62152 C.R. 35. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 26, also at family’s residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Glen Nisley and the home ministers. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen.

Surviving are children, Ruth Weaver, Walter (Joy) Schoenhals, Gerald (Chris) Schoenhals, and Mark (Sarah) Schoenhals; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
Brothers, Eugen and Hans Schoenhals, and sister, Ilse Schoenhals Bachmann Funck preceded him in death.
In 1949 Heini joined the first MCC trainee (visitor exchange) group, spending 7 months in Kalona, Iowa and 4 months in Archbold, Ohio. He enjoyed his time here very much but never dreamed of returning. Yet God had a very special plan: in 1954, Heini and his young wife followed a call to come to Archbold to work at Hickory Grove farms, which opened the door for him to become a farmer. He retired from active farming in 1997 but still enjoyed driving tractor whenever he was asked. After that he became a woodworker, making many beautiful pieces for family and for charity auctions.
After arriving in Archbold, Heini and Liesel became members at Central Mennonite Church, where he was very active as a song leader, elder, and Sunday School teacher for many years. In addition, he served in migrant ministry and at the Maumee Youth Center.
After World War II, Heini enjoyed going to Mennonite youth meetings and retreats in southern Germany. That’s also where he met his future wife, Liesel Guth. They were married on December 30, 1953 and just celebrated their 62nd anniversary.
Memorial services were held March 15, 2016 at Central Mennonite Church, Archbold, OH with burial in Pettisville Cemetery, Pettisville, Fulton Co., OH.

GOSHEN - Ernest S. Schrock, 75, of Goshen, died Saturday, Aug. 20.
He was born Sept. 15, 1940, to Samuel J. and Anna (Bontrager) Schrock.
He married Emma H. Schwartz; she survives.
Survivors also are daughter Debra E. (Levi) Stutzman; three grandchildren, Aaron Dale Stutzman, Eileen Jo (Nate) Lehman, Janay Rose Stutzman; two great-grandchildren; sisters Susie Borntrager, Lydian Swartz, Katie Schrock, Mary (Alvin) Miller, Lizzy (Harley) Lehman and Fannie (Alvin) Mishler; brothers Eli (Ruby), Alvin (Ruby), William (Loretta) and Samuel (Ida) Schrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.

She was born April 7, 1929 in Harrison Township to Warren Dennis and Nettie (Martin) Hoover.
On July 7, 1957 she married Esam William Nader in Lebanon. She later married Roscoe Schrock on Dec. 25, 1989 in Goshen.
She is survived by a daughter, Najwa (Mark) Wimmer of Syracuse; a son, Bill (Laura Jozwiak) Nader of Goshen; four granddaughters, Amber Silvia Dawn (David) Kincaid, Kaija Shantel (Trent) Kauffman, Leah Marie Wimmer and Julia Dominique Nader; and first husband, Esam William Nader, Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roscoe Schrock; three sisters, Carol, Florence and Martha May Hoover; and three brothers*, Arthur, Martin and Joe Hoover.
She was a very supportive grandmother and had a special love for her two cats, Pumpkin and Ariana. She was an avid rose gardener.
Mrs. Schrock was a member of College Mennonite Church and a faithful member of “K” group that met each Wednesday.
Mrs. Schrock received her Bachelor’s degree from Goshen College in 1951 prior to receiving her Master’s degree in math education. She taught Geometry and Trigonometry at Penn-Harris-Madison, retiring after 25 years of service.
Friends may call Sunday, June 5, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2016.
Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.

LAGRANGE — Frank W. Schrock, 82, of LaGrange, died Tuesday, July 12.
He was born on April 10, 1934, to Andrew I. and Lillie J. (Schrock) Schrock.
He married Barbara J. Evans; she survives.
Survivors also are daughters Teresa (Richard) Yost and Valerie (Brad) Everhart; sons Gregory (Lorene) and Geoffrey (Janice) Schrock; nine grandchildren, Lukas, Brandon, Heather, Sarah, Rachel, Dylan, Kelsi, Kara and Dana; two great-grandchildren, Vincent and Skyeler; two brothers, Rollin and his twin Fred Schrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

GOSHEN - H. Devon Schrock, 83, died at IU Health Goshen Hospital Thursday, March 10. He had been admitted March 5.
He was born Aug. 24, 1932, in St. Joseph County, to Herman and Pauline Weaver Schrock.
On July 5, 1958, he married Alice Ramer. She died in October 1992. On December 18, 1993, he married Ruth E. Sherman.
She survives along with his son, Daniel (Jennifer Halteman) Schrock and their sons, Peter and Nicholas of Goshen; son, Matthew Schrock and his sons, Lamarous, Delan and Brayton of Goshen; daughter, Peggy Stickler of Goshen and her son, Claude of Seattle. Also surviving are his stepson, Chad (Khristine Miller) Sherman and children Kyle and Emily of Simsbury, Conn.; and stepson, Brett (Mira Grieser) Sherman and daughters, Sadie and Willa of Mount Rainier, Md. He is also survived by three siblings, Harriet Stichter of Milford, Lowell (Ann) of New Carlisle and Marion (Verna) of Lancaster, Pa.
He was a graduate of Madison Township High School in 1950. From 1953 to 1955 he served with Mennonite Central Committee's PAX program in Germany and Greece. From 1956 to 1965 and again from 1977 to 1984 he farmed both independently and in partnership with his father. Occasionally it was part time as he completed higher education and began teaching.
He graduated from Goshen College in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in English, from the University of Notre Dame in 1976 with a master's degree in English and in 1994 with a master's degree in theology.
His teaching career in English began at Goshen High School, where he taught from 1969 to 1977 and continued at Bethany Christian High School from 1977, until his retirement in 1999.
In retirement he enjoyed tutoring ESL students from around the world as well as time in solitude on his 11 acres west of Goshen, where he built a cabin and enjoyed gardening, reading and country life.
He was previously a member of Holdeman Mennonite Church, where he was active as an elder and adult teacher and where he also served for four years as a licensed minister. After marrying Ruth and moving to Goshen, he became a member of College Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at College Mennonite Church.

Schrock, H. Devon, 83, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died March 10, 2016 at the same place. He was born August 24, 1932 in St. Joseph Co., IN to Herman and Pauline (Weaver) Schrock. On December 18,1993 at Goshen he was married to Ruth Eshleman, who was born December 31, 1939 and survives.
Surviving are children, Daniel Schrock (Jennifer Halteman); Matthew Schrock; and Peggy Stickler; stepson Chad Sherman (Khristine Miller); stepson Brett Sherman (Mira Grieser); six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; and siblings, Harriet Stichter; Lowell (Ann) Schrock; and Marion (Verna) Schrock.

GOSHEN - LeRoy L. Schrock, 81, of Goshen, passed away unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack Friday, April 8.
He was born June 28, 1934, in Goshen, to Levi and Rosalie (Chupp) Schrock. He married Velma Ruth Miller on Feb. 24, 1957, in Middlebury.
Surviving are his wife; children Rhoda (Thomas), DeWayne (Lucy), DeVon (Doris), Jenelle (Aaron) and Ruth Elaine; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a granddaughter, Lorinda Bontrager.
He was a retired minister and farmer.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 10, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, at the Ramer Mennonite Youth Center, 24647 C.R. 44, Nappanee.
LeRoy was a faithful member of the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church. Services will be held there at 10 a.m. April 12. Home ministry will officiate. Burial will follow at the Yellow Creek Cemetery.

WAKARUSA - Ervin J. Schwartz, 99, formerly of Nappanee, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa. He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Bremen, to Joseph and Emma (Miller) Schwartz.
On Oct. 6, 1937, he married Maxine Hoffer in Nappanee at Pastor Homer North's residence. She preceded him in death Oct. 2, 2008.
Mr. Schwartz lived his lifetime in this area. He served in CPS Service in Denniston, Iowa, in civil engineering. He was a draftsman and designer in the RV and moblile home industry. He also lettered and designed logos for trucks and had several patents. He did design work for Shank Motors, Vitreous, Heckaman Dairy, and designed the Schwartz Electric Logo. Ervin was a member of North Main Street Mennonite Church. He was a woodworker, painter and artist. He was a chalk artist and did many presentations for area churches. He also played the accordion and harmonica.
Surviving are sons Jerry (Pam) Schwartz and Darrell (Cheryl) Schwartz, both of Goshen; grandchildren, Jodi (Brian) Bemiller, Matt (Renee) Schwartz, Cindi (Irene) Schwartz and Troy (Tif) Schwartz; great-grandchildren Brock (Hanna) Bemiller, Courtney Bemiller, Maddie Schwarz, Zach Schwartz, Tori Schwartz, Trajan Schwartz; and sisters Esther Helmuth and Nora (Dale) Welty, both of Wakarusa, Clara Kilmer of Goshen and Nora (Bill) Yoder of New Paris.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Schwartz, and sisters Amanda Weaver and Lydia Mae Burkey.

Schwartz, Ervin J., 99, of Wakarusa, Elkhart Co., IN died February 23, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, IN the same place. He was born December 31, 1916 at Bremen, IN to Joseph and Emma (Miller) Schwartz. On October 6, 1937 at Nappanee, IN he was married to Maxine Hoffer, who died October 2, 2008.

BERNE - Harvey O. Schwartz, 81, of Berne, passed away at 5:12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo, of lung complications.
He was born June 18, 1935, in Berne, to Adam and Mary (Bontrager) Schwartz.
He married Mary Chupp on June 20, 1965, in Berne, and she preceded him in death June 15, 2006.
Harvey was a carpenter and manufactured windows and doors.
In his retirement years, he was known for his fishing and his many little sayings that often rhymed.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Wesley) Gingerich of Kokomo; four sons, Adam (Deborah) Schwartz of Berne, Harley (Sherri) Schwartz of Shipshewana, Philip (Rosetta) Schwartz of Shipshewana and Perry (Katie Ellen) Schwartz of Topeka; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Levi (Barbara) Schwartz of Berne, Jerome (Josephine) Schwartz of Nappanee and Martin (Edna) Schwartz of New Paris; three sisters, Lydiann Hilty of Berne, Edna Hochstedler of Topeka and Clara Hilty of Berne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; two grandchildren, Krystle Gingerich and Angela Schwartz; two sisters, Sarah (infant) and Pollie; and two brothers, Alvin and Dan Schwartz.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Merlin Hilty residence, 1757 S. 200 West, Monroe, with Walter Schwartz and Melvin Hochstetler officiating. Burial will be in the Schwartz Cemetery, Berne.
Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at the Merlin Hilty residence.

ELKHART - Paul Raymond Selman, 80, of Elkhart, died at 1:46 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Creve Coeur, Ill., to Carl and Eliza Selman.
On June 30, 1957, he married Carol Whirledge.
She survives along with three children, Ted (Sheila) Selman, Dave (Jo) Selman and Karen Selman, all of Goshen; nine grandchildren, Lisa Wing, Jordyn Selman, Rebecca Zuck, Leah Wilfong, Ben Selman, Kassy Miller, Brittany Hively, Jimmy Knapp and Joshua Knapp; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Gates and Jane Schroeder, both of Peoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Angel Grace Zuck.
He graduated from Pekin Community High School in Illinois, Bluffton College (now University) in Ohio with a bachelor of arts degree and from the University of Chicago with a master of arts in teaching from graduate school in biology.
He taught biology and chemistry at Bloom Township High School, Chicago Heights, Ill.; Brandywine High School, Niles, Mich.; and Rosthern Junior College in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada.
In 1980, he attended Southwestern Michigan Junior College and became a registered nurse. He worked at Rosewood Terrace (presently Golden Living Center) in Elkhart until his retirement.
He was a member of Hively Avenue Mennonite Church.
Paul enjoyed observing nature through science and loved to tinker and re-engineer items around the house. With his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he enjoyed igniting their curiosity of the natural world. He was also interested in social justice issues, was an avid reader and took joy in meeting people.
He donated his body to Indiana University School of Medicine.
A memorial service will take place at Hively Avenue Mennonite Church in Elkhart at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18, with visitation beginning two hours prior. The Rev. Margaret Sawatsky will officiate.

A homemaker, Mrs. Sensenig was a member of Conestoga Church of the Brethren in Leola and a former member of Ephrata Church of the Brethren where she had been a member for many years. Her family of ten children and their spouses, two foster children, 23 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a number of foster great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and friends will miss her delicious homemade chow-chow and her healthy laugh among other lasting memories. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Friday morning, August 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Conestoga Church of the Brethren, 141 East Main Street, Leola, PA 17540. There will be no public viewing. He began his 51 year career with his family business by driving truck at age 16, and retired in 1994 as vice-president of Oliver H. Sensenig & Sons Livestock Hauling, Stevens. He was also a cattle buyer for other firms. Raymond was a Korean War Army veteran. An active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, he was 1987 Lay Person of the Year; Sunday school superintendent, treasurer and teacher; class leader; organizer of Water Street Rescue Mission & Denver Health & Rehab. volunteers; and knew his Bible. Raymond proudly supported his family's activities, was a Phillies fan, and loved his ponies and rabbits.
Also surviving is his son, Bruce L. (Denise M. Kalbach) Sensenig, Denver; grandchildren, Kelly (Bryan) Janke; Dana (Brandon) Risser; Timothy Sensenig; and Carrie Sensenig; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Benjamin & Nicholas Janke; and Kaylee Risser; sisters, Minerva Martin, Stevens; and Shirley Sensening, Ephrata; and brother, Melvin Sensenig, Ephrata. She was born February 7, 1928, in Chester Township, Wayne County, Ohio, to the late William and Amelia Horst Gable and was united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1951, to the late Mark Heatwole Shank, who passed away on April 6, 2007. Mary was a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her son, Ivan Shank of East Berlin, Pa., and daughters, Elsie Mellinger of Myerstown, Pa., and Rhoda Sauder of Bridgewater, Va. Also surviving is her brother, Chester Gable of Wooster, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Born in West Hempfield Township on December 7, 1919, he was the son of the late C. Newton and Lida (Hertzler) Shaub. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Charles) Shaub who passed away July 28, 2003 and later married Edith Mann Gochnauer who passed away September 30, 2006.
He was a member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, where he served with his wife as deacon couple for 43 years. In addition to his involvement with the local congregation, he served on several Lancaster conference committees. Andrew was a member of the committee that organized the Brotherly Aid Plan for Lancaster Conference, which came into being in 1950 and he served in various areas of the program for 40 years. During his working years, he worked for E. H. Gochnauer & Sons, Inc. for 30 years and was later employed by Rohrer's Hardware in Woods Edge Plaza, Lancaster. His hobbies included singing, reading and gardening.
He is survived by his 4 children, Joyce L., wife of Roy W. Musser of Pottsville, Jay M., husband of Marilyn (Bucher) Shaub of Lititz, R. Elaine, wife of John Todd of Richmond, VA, Charlotte A., wife of Marq Ortiz of Bernville; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, he is preceded in death by a sister, Mary S. Trimble.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, from 2 to 3 pm, at the Bethany West Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz, followed by his memorial service at 3 pm, with his son-in-law, Rev. Mark Ortiz officiating. Interment will be private in the Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery.

Bertha is survived by Shelly and Metzler step-children and step-grandchildren that she loved. Bertha is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families who surrounded her and supported her with their love in the days and hours up to her passing. Bertha was predeceased by brothers Harold L. Myer, Elmer L. Myer, Paul L. Myer and most recently, her dear sister Elsie M. Wolgemuth.
Bertha was a lifetime member of Stumptown Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School classes in her early years. She was very proud of the fact that she attended Locust Grove Mennonite School for 2 years and Strasburg Mennonite Bible School for 4 years. Bertha was involved early in life with the family truck farm and taking their produce to market at Lancaster and Green Dragon. She then went on to own and operate the Myer's Gift and Printing Shop in Lancaster and Mount Joy for many years until her retirement.

He was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church. Raymond worked as a home builder, a trucker, and also as an electrician.
On May 11, 1956, he married the former Mary Ann Hobbs Phillips, who preceded him in death on March 11, 1979. He later married Elizabeth Ann Showalter on Feb. 13, 1982, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by a stepdaughter, Barbara Ann LeMaster (Larry); a sister, Dorothy Ann Keener (Elwood) of Weyers Cave; a brother, Robert Shenk (Miriam) of Harrisonburg; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Shenk was also preceded in death by his son, Raymond J. Shenk III, and his siblings, Doris Shenk, Harold Shenk and Clarene Hertzler.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Bank Mennonite Church, 2493 Bank Church Road, Dayton, Va., with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

GOSHEN - Nedra J. Shetler, 55, of Goshen, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 14, at Goshen Hospital following a five-year battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 15, 1961, in Goshen, to John and Mildred (Schrock) Shetler.
Survivors include two sisters, Barbara (Rich) Myers of Huntertown and Letha (Jay) Hershberger of Middlebury; three brothers, Ellis Shetler, Leon (Susan) Shetler and Willard (Jen) Shetler, all of Goshen; four nieces; eight nephews; three great-nieces; and six great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Joan Shetler.
Nedra was a 1979 graduate of Clinton Christian School and member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church.
Family was an important part of her life, especially time spent with nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School after attending Upper Leacock High School. She was a secretary for over 40 years at Philhaven-Mt. Gretna. Nancy was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church; she loved classical music and singing, especially for the church choir, and the Hiram Hershey Chorus. Earlier, she enjoyed bicycling trips in the U.S. and Europe.

GOSHEN - Donald J. Shoemaker, 94, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Stephenson County, Ill., to Arthur and Louisa (Engel) Shoemaker.
On June 22, 1947, he married Ila June Litwiller in Morton, Ill. She died Aug. 23, 2010.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce (John) Yoder of Angola, Sandra (Doug) Friesen of Goshen and Nelda (Bill) Wittig of Coralville, Iowa; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth (Doris) Shoemaker of Bloomington, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Larry E. Shoemaker; two brothers, Orval and Eugene Shoemaker; and a sister, Mildred Druge.
A retired farmer in Dakota, Ill., Mr. Shoemaker moved to the Goshen area in 2004. He was a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Friends may call from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church. An 11 a.m. memorial service will follow the visitation. Pastor Don Blosser will officiate.
A private burial was in Violett Cemetery.

Shoemaker, Donald J., 94, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died October 12, 2016 at the same place. He was born December 26, 1921 at Dakota, IL to Arthur and Louisa (Engle)Shoemaker. On June 22, 1947 at Morton, IL he was married to Ila June Litwiller, who was born June 12, 1927 and died August 23, 2010.

Short, Merle J., 76, of Archbold, Fulton Co., OH died December 21, 2016 at Wauseon, Fulton Co., OH. He was born September 7, 1940 at Archbold, OH to Sylvan R. and Pluma (Yoder) Short. On February 18, 1961 he was married to Charlene Nafziger, who survives.
Surviving are children, Gary (Alice) Short of Bedford, Texas; and Tim (Missy) Short of Wadsworth, Ohio; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law Donna Short.
Don Short (brother), and a sister and brother-in-law Carol and Marlin King preceded him in death.
He was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church; farmed for many years; director of Farmers & Merchants State Bank for over 20 years; and volunteered at Care and Share Thrift Store after retiring.
Memorial services were held December 27, 2016 at Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold, OH with burial in Lockport Cemetery, Stryker, OH.
HARRISONBURG - Andre Linden Jay Showalter was a ray of sunshine to his parents, Austin and Sarah (Schoenhals) Showalter, Harrisonburg, Va. Andre was born Jan. 20, 2016, and passed away April 11, 2016. He was also deeply loved by his grandparents, Gerald and Christine Schoenhals, Archbold, Ohio, and Linden and RuthE Showalter, Waynesboro, Pa.; aunts and uncles, Luke Schoenhals and Anna, Gloria, Grantley, and Petra Showalter; and many other friends.

Mrs. Showalter was born Jan. 23, 1938, in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Everett Russell and Edith Pauline Mowbray Shifflett.
She lived her entire life in Harrisonburg except for 14 years she spent in Denbigh, Va.
She served as a volunteer with the Gift & Thrift, participated in Community Bible Study and was a facilitator of the Bible Study Fellowship. She was a longtime member of Weavers Mennonite Church, where she was a part of the sewing circle. Betty Lou enjoyed baking, visiting the beach and traveling. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.
On April 23, 1961, she married Paul Gabriel “Pee Wee” Showalter, who preceded her in death June 30, 2008.
Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl Ann Showalter Parker and husband, Larry, Jill Annette Showalter Fries, both of Chesapeake, and Paula Gail Showalter Brown and husband, Buck, of Dayton; siblings, Capt. Leonard Shifflette, USMC, retired, Harvey Shifflett, Samuella Fries, all of Harrisonburg, Marilee Layman of Dayton, and Andrew Shifflett of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Betty Lou was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jon Fries and a sister, Peggy Ann Riggleman.
Pastor Phil Kanagy will conduct a funeral service Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Weavers Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at Weavers Cemetery.

Showalter, Elinor M. Crider

Elinor M. (Crider) Showalter, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday morning, December 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 26, 1929 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Lizzie E. (Frey) Crider. She married Glenn D. Showalter on November 30, 1950.
Elinor was a homemaker and had also worked at the former Lehman's Egg Service, Shalom Christian Academy and Cove Valley Camp. She was a member of the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, volunteered at the Cumberland Valley Relief Center and she enjoyed quilting.
Surviving family in addition to her husband of 66 years are two daughters, Fern (Edward) Horst of Chambersburg, Phyllis Showalter of York; two sons, Eldon (Jean) Showalter of Waynesboro, Darrel (Karen)) Showalter of Greencastle; eight grandchildren, Laura (Rodney) Martin, Wanda (Paul) Schlabach, Duane (Malisa) Horst, Brett (Lauren) Showalter, Erin (David) Carter, Tony (Kristen) Showalter, Kelly (Eric) Alleman, Lisa Horst; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Diller of Shippensburg, and Janet Crider of Chambersburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Horst; three brothers, J. Eldon Crider, Lester Crider, Harold Crider; and a sister, Leona Showalter.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 6 at 11 a.m. at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church 1800 Philadelphia Ave. Chambersburg with Rev. Jerry Roth officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery following the service. There will be no public viewing but the family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Cumberland Valley Relief Center Building Fund 4225 Molly Pitcher Hwy. South Chambersburg, PA 17202.
Mrs. Showalter was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Dayton, and was the daughter of the late William Rhodes and Annie Elizabeth Jones Rohrer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.
On June 22, 1943, she married Claude Rohrer Showalter, who preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Stephen C. Showalter and wife, Eunice, of Dayton, and Dwight R. Showalter and wife, Brenda, of Bridgewater; three daughters, Arlene Esh and husband, David, of Narvon, Pa., Annie Wenger and husband, Leonard, of Mount Crawford, and Martha Knicely and husband, Everett, of Dayton; two sons-in-law, Warren Shank of Dayton and John Robert Shank of Mount Clinton; four sisters, Hazel Wenger, Ethel Wenger, Mary Evelyn Wenger and Annie Wenger, and two brothers, Frank Rohrer and Joseph Rohrer, all of Dayton; 28 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Showalter was preceded in death by two daughters, Carolyn Shank and Evelyn Shank.
Ministers of the church will conduct a funeral service Friday, July 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The body has been taken to the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Leonard and Annie Wenger, where friends may call at any time.

Mr. Showalter was born March 13, 1925, and was a son of the late Michael R. and Fannie Heatwole Showalter.
He was a farmer and a member of the Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church.
He was united in marriage Aug. 18, 1948, to Melva R. Rhodes, who preceded him in death June 26, 2011.
Surviving are five children, Allen R. Showalter and wife, Eva, of Bridgewater, Roland (Ron) W. Showalter and wife, Marie, Linda L. Nolt and husband, Leroy, Martha A. Martin and husband, David, all of Dayton, and Wilda S. Wenger and husband, Sheldon, of Bridgewater; 23 grandchildren and 89 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Marvin, his twin brother, Harry, Daniel, Joseph (Joe), S. Frank Showalter; and four sisters, Mary Rhodes, Margaret Cline, Eunice Knicely and Fannie Bell Good.
Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Showalter is preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, Michael, John and William and a great-grandson, Ethan Heatwole.
Ministers of the Church will conduct a funeral service at Riverdale Old Order Mennonite Church on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to the Showalter home, where friends may call at any time until 8 p.m. Monday.

Showalter, Ward Milton, Sr., 93, of Waynesboro, VA died October 8, 2016 at Fishersville, VA. He was born March 12, 1923 at Waynesboro, VA to Ira and Edna (Shank) Showalter. On January 5, 1946 he was married to Mary Ellen Rowe, who was born October 14, 1925 and died March 20, 2016.

LAGRANGE - Lilyana Grace Shrock, infant daughter of Norman and Ruby (Hochstetler) Shrock, of LaGrange, was stillborn at 3:19 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at New Eden Care Center, Topeka.
Surviving in addition to her parents are two sisters, Leora JoAnn and Lorraine Joy Shrock both at home; grandparents Amos and Leora Hochstetler of Topeka and Marion and Ruby Shrock of LaGrange; great-grandparents Melvin and Mary Esther Shrock of Markesan, Wis., Ruby Troyer of Shipshewana, and Rosa Hochstetler of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Eli Troyer, William Hochstetler, Edna Ellen Shrock, and William and Lovina Yoder.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Marion Shrock residence, 3545 South 125 West, LaGrange. Services will be conducted by Bishop David Bontrager of the Old Order Amish Church. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SHIPSHEWANA - Silas S. Shrock, 89, of Shipshewana, died Sunday, Nov. 27.
He was born Feb. 10, 1927, to Edd and Fannie (Yoder) Shrock.
He married Dorothy Slaubaugh; she survives.
Survivors also are daughters Wanda (Gordon) Miller, Judy (Mike) Mast and Jan (Rick) Baumann; sons Jim (Vicky) and Leon (Debbi) Shrock; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; sister Phyllis Schrock; brothers David, Ed and Fred Shrock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alma Knepp and Martha Slaubaugh and two brothers, Paul and Pete Shrock.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Emma Mennonite Church, 1900 S. 600 W., Topeka.
The family will hold a graveside service prior to the 11 a.m. celebration of life service Friday, Dec. 2, also at the church.
Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Memorials may be given to M.C.C. (Mennonite Central Committee).

Shue, Paul Bucher

Paul Bucher Shue came into this world at his home in Mummasburg, Pennsylvania, on April 22, 1931, to his parents, Monroe G. Shue and Mary Naomi (Bucher) Shue. He graduated from Biglerville High School in 1949, where he enjoyed playing the tuba, singing in choirs, and shop classes.
On Sept. 3, 1950, he married Mary Weaver, whom he met at Camp Little Eden in Onekama, Michigan, while doing some voluntary service work. They were married two weeks shy of 64 years. To this union were born four children, Brenda, Bradley, Terry, and Tim. Paul was an active member of Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church.
Paul moved to Kansas shortly after they were married. He worked with a carpentry crew for several years before breaking out on his own and forming Shue Construction Company. Through the years he employed many teenagers and other men who needed the extra work, teaching them the basics of carpentry. For one year he took teaching as a profession, teaching the first carpentry class at Chaparral High School in 1974. In later years, Paul scaled down his building skills to doing woodworking, making collapsible baskets, wooden neckties, Kansas maps, and little children's rocking chairs in his shop at home.
Paul had other hobbies as well as woodworking. He got his private pilot's license and took up flying for a number of years. Visiting with strangers was a special gift of his. Many times he would talk with a cross country bike rider or traveler and end up giving them a bed for the night or a job to earn some money. But above all, he loved being with his family, especially the grandchildren.
On April 5, 2016 , Paul passed away peacefully at the Attica Long Term Care facility at the age of 84 years, 11 months. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in 2014, his parents, Monroe and Mary Shue, and two brothers, Chester and George.
He will be missed by his children, Brenda Crosthwait and husband, John, of Brush, CO, Bradley and wife Brenda, of Harper, KS, Terry and wife Kay of Kidron, OH, and Tim and wife Jennifer, of Kidron, OH, grandchildren Rebecca and Egemen Cetinkaya of Rolla, MO, Erin Nowland and husband Matt, with their children Parker, Blade, Silas, and Reagan of Yuma, CO, Sara Wang and husband Phil of Arvada, CO, Jeremy Shue and wife Laura and their son, Josiah of Goshen, IN, Nathanael Shue and wife Audra and their children Skyler and Soren, of Denver, CO, Isaac Shue and his wife, Karina of Harper, KS, Bethany Nussbaum and husband Scott of Orrville, OH, Krista Mast and her husband Craig and children Anna and Benjamin of Kidron, OH, Kelsey and husband Jeff and daughter Meriella of Sugarcreek, OH, Harper Shue, Sommer Shue, and Veena Shue of Kidron, OH, a sister, Elizabeth Schmidt of Lancaster, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions can be made to the Mennonite Disaster Service.
Visitation with Family will be 7:00 p.m. to -9:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church of Harper.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the church with Jerry Weaver officiating.

NEW PARIS - Delbert L. Slabaugh, 76, of New Paris, died Thursday, July 7, at his sister’s residence where he has resided for four months.
He was born July 24, 1939, in Nappanee, to Levi T. and Lydia Ann (Miller) Slabaugh.
Mr. Slabaugh was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He had been a truck driver for CTX.
Surviving are brothers Raymond (Linda) Slabaugh, Marvin (Betty) Slabaugh, Lonnie (Verba) Slabaugh, Jerry (Sara) Slabaugh, all of Nappanee, Leroy Slabaugh of Ligonier; and sisters Martha (George) Casavice of South Bend and Freida (Glen) Burkholder of New Paris.

WAKARUSA - Katie A. Slabaugh, 94, of Nappanee, died at 1 pm, Sunday, Sept. 4, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
She was born April 24, 1922, in Nappanee to Daniel I. and Barbara S. (Schmucker) Hochstetler.
She married Daniel T. Slabaugh Dec. 28, 1944. He preceded in death Jan. 15, 2003.
Mrs. Slabaugh lived her lifetime in this area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her children, Leon J. (Karen M.) Slabaugh, Garrett, Lamar “Popcorn” (Mary) Slabaugh, Nappanee, Dorothy (Ray) Troyer, Lagrange, Marlene (Dave) Mast, Karen (Paul) Troyer, both of Shipshewana; 25 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild; and brothers, Leroy (Lydia Mae) Hochstetler, Plain City, Ohio and Edward (Rachel) Hochstetler, Nappanee. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Barbara Ellen Slabaugh, son, Vernon Dale Slabaugh, grandson, Jeremy Mast, two infant great grandchildren, sisters Lydia Mae and Alma Hochstetler, and brothers Ivan, Milo, Alvin, and Ervin Hochstetler.

ELKHART - Nancy Jean Smeltzer, 63, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:13 a.m. Monday, March 21, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 10, 1952, in Elkhart, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Kreutzinger) Penn.
Nancy is survived by two daughters, Shannon (Keith) Klee of Washington and Kim Smeltzer of Elkhart; three brothers, Phil Penn of Elkhart, John Penn of Lady Lakes, Fla., and Jim Penn of Kalamazoo, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Ryan Klee and Patrick Klee.
A memorial service will be in Nancy's honor at a later date.
Nancy worked as a caregiver and was formerly employed as a CNA. She enjoyed singing, adored animals, and was a devout Mennonite who attended Faith Mennonite Church in Goshen.
Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with her arrangements.

ELKHART - Friends and family of Nancy J. Smeltzer, 63, of Elkhart, who died March 21, are invited to celebrate her life at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at her chuch home, Faith Mennonite Church, 1201 S. 11th St., Goshen.
The service will be followed by a light meal. In honor of Nancy's vibrant personality and colorful spirit, visitors are invited to wear a tasteful hat and colorful clothes, if they choose.

Surviving are children, Susie Carter, Charles Smith, and Naomi Smith; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Two children, Virginia Forbes and Jake Smith preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held August 21, 2016 at Belmont Mennonite Church, Elkhart, IN.
